Bumper Re-do on a budget

I wanted to show you the before and after of my bumper re-do

But before I want to tell you the background:
A friend from work sold me her stroller for twenty dollars (it came with a carseat)
And then the other day she was like
"Do you need a crib?"
And I already have a playpen but I wanted a crib so Uno could sleep in that during the day,
or when he/she gets older. But i wasn't going to spend $200 dollars on one.
But she gave it to me
for FREE.
She also gave me her bumper set, which I was so grateful for.

The only thing is, it didnt fit in with the room and looked really boyish to me.
So being myself I knew I could re-upholster it and have a new one at half the price of a new one.

(James and I looked at a couple of places and cheap bumpers were over $40 dollars each)

But here is the before
See it's kind of boyish

But here is the after (I'm in love with it):

It's so amazing :) It makes me so happy :) Also it only cost me
Eleven Dollars!!!!
Come on people thats a record, $11 dollars for a bumper and comforter.
I hit the jackpot at the fabric store

I wanted to show you the fabric, I bought both of them at Hancock Fabrics for a deal

The green one was tn the "Spot the Bolt" deal, were each bolt has so much off of the lowest price.
It was 50% off, but the lowest price was $3.99.
So it was only $1.99 a yard. So I bought three yards.
That only costed me six dollars.
The brown was a cotton broadcloth there were two color browns
a lighter one and a darker one. I chose the lighter one because it matched better
and it turned out to be $2.99 a yard with 40% with a coupon
(Thats why I went to Hancock they always have coupons were as Joanns sets out like two
flyers and they get snatched up right when they open, which means no coupons.)
So it was $1.80 or so a yard. I got two yards. That $3.60 dollars.
(I also got some buttons which were only 60 cents)
It all added up to be around $11 dollars.

Here is the comforter which took me longest

I love it
Oh here is the before of the comforter

Even though they are cute the ruffles turned out to be very difficult and I will probably
never do them again. At least not on this big of a scale.
They are really cute though

Heres a picture of the bumpers :)

Anyways, I would give you a tutorial (I did start actually) but I did it a complicated way
but if any of you want to know how to make it then leave a comment and I will tell you.

xoxo Nicole
